The Town of Cambridge re-opened the Wembley Golf Course to restricted numbers on Easter Saturday 11 April after closing the venue amid the pandemic restrictions on 25 March.

Since the re-opening, the course has been fully booked with more than 220 golfers a day enjoying the privilege of the outdoor recreation and exercise.

The venue allows two players at a time at each tee-booking time, ten minutes apart, to create the adequate social distancing required.

Bookings can only be made online, with cashless transactions only for payment at the Pro-Shop.

The driving range also re-opened on Wednesday 22 April.

The venue’s staff have been pleased with everyone’s behaviour and compliance with hygiene and social distancing rules.

Since the two courses re-opened, venue staff have closely monitored how the public complied as it is critical that the health of the staff was not compromised by people ignoring the hygiene rules.

The Town would have had to re-close it if it felt that the venue was not safe for the staff and the public.

The Wembley Golf Course is an important source of revenue for the Town and its closure had a significant impact on the Town’s budget therefore its re-opening is welcomed, albeit in a limited capacity at this time.

The bar, restaurants, practice greens and mini-golf remain closed at this time.
