To keep our community up to date with key Council decisions, outcomes and plans; here is a snapshot summary from Council’s Wednesday 22 April 2020 ordinary meeting.

Vibrant communities Council endorsed the Draft Drouin Township Plan 2020-2036 and will release for community consultation for a period of six weeks, beginning Monday 27 April 2020. Council endorsed the Placemaking Program to begin projects in Darnum, Labertouche, Noojee and Willow Grove to the value of $50,000 per town. Council agreed to give notice of intent to award a twenty-one year lease for the Glen Cromie Caravan Park to Mary and Mark Shattock, undertake the mandatory four week public advertising required under Section 190 of the Local Government Act and approve officers to negotiate an early release with existing tenant. Council endorsed the Developed Contribution Plan review directions paper and will release for community consultation for a period of six weeks, beginning Monday 27 April 2020. Council granted a planning permit subject to conditions for PLA0240/19 – 935 Brandy Creek Rd, Rokeby. Council acknowledged the Warragul Rotary Club for its longstanding use of the Landsborough St, Warragul site and resolves to place lots 1,2 and 3 on the surplus property list for rezoning and future development. Council considered all submissions under Section 22 of the Planning and Environment Act 1987 and under Section 23 (1)(b) of the Act, will refer all submissions and amendment to an independent Panel Thriving economy Council authorises officers to write to the Minister for Planning to request authorisation to prepare and exhibit a planning scheme amendment to introduce the changes proposed by the PPF translation process and those changes proposed by the PEGZ project. Council approved the stage-one community and business support package to the value of $440,000 in response to the coronavirus pandemic. An update will be provided in July on the status of the stage-one support package and include any proposals or consideration for stage-two initiatives. Safe and sustainable environments Council noted the submissions in relation to the Baw Baw Planning Scheme Amendment C138 and will refer the submissions to an independent planning panel appointed by the Minister for Planning Organisational excellence What's next?

The next Council meeting will be from 5.30pm on Wednesday 13 May 2020 at the West Gippsland Arts Centre. Due to government restrictions imposed by the coronavirus disease outbreak (COVID-19), community members are not permitted to attend Council Meetings until further notice, however everyone is welcome tune into the live stream from home.
