Following the tradition of recent years, Australian flags have been again placed on the graves of war veterans at the Mona Vale and Manly cemeteries for this Anzac Day.
Northern Beaches Council staff placed 470 Australian flags on the graves after Council's COVID 19 emergency measures meant volunteers were unable to assist this year.
Council has placed flags on war veteran’s graves at the cemeteries ahead of all Anzac and Remembrance Day commemorations since 2018.
To assist Council identify all war veterans buried at both cemeteries for future commemorations, family members are urged to contact Council to see whether their relative is on our list.
Volunteers interested in assisting with the administration of the program or with ongoing research to identify unrecognised veterans are invited to register an expression of interest.
Council will be in touch once our normal volunteer programs are back to normal.
