Council will coordinate the timing of construction planned for Bay Street Village during the COVID-19 restrictions, works will be finalised before businesses return to normal trading.
The works will commence on Friday 1 May and are expected to be completed by June 2020.
Construction involves installing new pedestrian crossings at the Bay and Cochrane Streets intersection and undertaking remediation works at the intersection of Bay and Asling Streets.
During construction road detours will be in place and parking will be impacted.
Planned worksBay and Cochrane Street roundabout will be upgraded with new pedestrian crossings. Crossings will be installed at road level with supporting speed humps to slow vehicles on approach.
This upgrade is part of Council’s investment to improve pedestrian priority on key walking routes and are jointly funded through the State government’s Safe Travel in Local Streets Program.
Following the completion of this roundabout upgrade we will use this quieter period to undertake remediation works on the roundabout at Bay and Asling Streets. The crossings will be altered to accommodate new PTV buses.
