Boulia swears in its new Council...
Boulia Shire Council 24 Apr 2020

news, local-news,

Boulia is the latest North West Queensland council to swear in its new council. And they did it on Monday with country swagger releasing a video of the councillors taking their oath of office with a soundtrack of Lee Kernaghan's song Hat Town (with permission). First to take his oath, and surprisingly without a hat, was mayor Rick Britton who was elected unopposed for his fourth term as mayor. He was followed by Cr Jack Neilson introduced as Boulia's "youngest and tallest councillor" and then "longest serving councillor" Cr Sam Beauchamp. Finally sworn in were the two newbies Cr Jan Norton and Cr Tim Edgar. The video finished with the message "See you in 2021" with the shire shutdown this year due to COVID-19. The council also livestreamed its first meeting but technical issues meant there was no sound on the recording.
