Downey Lane Car ParkFairfield City Council will waive all parking fees at Fisher Street Car Park, Cabramatta and Downey Lane Car Park, Fairfield, for the next month.
Council is committed to supporting local businesses impacted by the downturn in customers caused by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Drivers will still receive a ticket upon entry and require the ticket to exit to maintain security, but will not need to pay the fee. This temporary free parking will support local businesses, workers and shoppers, and is additional to the free street parking that has always been available across our City.
Fisher Street Car Park provides 172 standard car parking spaces. Downey Lane Car Park provides 350 car parking spaces.
Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said Council is committed to supporting local businesses and workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Local businesses are the lifeblood of our City and we are committed to supporting them during this transitional period,” Mayor Carbone said.
“The demand for these car parks has lessened because of COVID-19 and Council has decided to open these car parks to make it easier for residents to do their essential business, and to reduce costs on workers and businesses who use these car parks.
“Council will continue to review parking demand at its car parks during the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure that parking is available where it is most needed, to support the needs of residents and local businesses.”
Council is committed to ensuring that businesses, shoppers and residents have fair access to parking in our town centres. In locations where demand remains high, the current systems will remain in place to provide a fair system that allows more turnover of customers to our town centres.
Council has closed and made changes to a number of its services in light of the Coronavirus pandemic. For a full list of changes, visit www.fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au/coronavirus.
We will continue to provide updates to the community as and when changes occur.
