This Sunday afternoon will see the swimming flags come down on many beaches across the peninsula.
Lifeguard patrols will continue at Dee Why and Freshwater Beaches until the end of May, with Manly patrolled 12 months a year. However, Dee Why and Manly remain closed until at least early next week due to COVID-19 community restrictions.
While there will not be flagged swimming areas at most beaches next week, Council staff will be conducting roving patrols at some beaches (weather dependent) for the next week. These beaches are Palm Beach, Mona Vale, Queenscliff and North and South Curl Curl beaches.
Since September last year, the Northern Beaches had over 11.1 million visitors. Council lifeguards and the volunteer surf life savers successfully performed 1049 rescues and provided first aid to 5026 people.
