Local governments will now have the ability to issue fines of up to $500 to people who park illegally in ACROD bays.
The Local Government (Parking for People with Disabilities) Amendment Regulations 2020 has received Royal Assent and will come into effect on 25 April 2020.
The amended regulations increase penalties for people who illegally park vehicles in ACROD bays in Western Australia.
Fines for the misuse of ACROD bays will increase from $300 to $500, with court-imposed penalties to increase from a maximum of $2,000 to $5,000.
The amendments are a result of ongoing work between the State Government, local government sector and National Disability Services aimed at improving accessibility for people living with disability.
