Elderly people and home schooling parents can now access books and other resources from their local library through Council’s new delivery and Click and Collect services.

People aged over 70 years and those who are medically vulnerable can reserve books by calling their local library and have them delivered to their door by Council Rangers.

The loan period for these books has been extended until libraries reopen to the public.

Parents who are home schooling their children can also order library resources or books from the Premier’s Reading Challenge online and pick them up from the libraries as part of the Click and Collect program.

“Our libraries have diversified the way that they can support our community during their temporary closure, at a time when their resources are more valuable than ever,” Mayor George Brticevic said.

“Having our Rangers deliver to the homes of our elderly and vulnerable community members not only provides a great service, but also gives us the opportunity to conduct welfare checks and provide some social interaction to people who aren’t able to go out and see their friends,” Cr Brticevic said.
