Kerang CBD asphalting works planned

Night works will occur during the first week of May to repair the road surface of two of Kerang’s busiest streets.

The resurfacing of the length of Victoria Street in Kerang’s central business district and Scoresby Street between Fitzroy and Victoria streets are planned for 5-7 May, with works occurring each night between 6pm and 6am.

“The length of Victoria Street in Kerang’s central business district is one of the busiest roads we manage, as it services residents, business owners and visitors to Kerang,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.

“These works are part of Council’s annual sealed road maintenance program, and will be the first time works of this magnitude have occurred in the Kerang CBD since the rejuvenation of Victoria Square.”

These works also include the profiling out of the old asphalt and laying of new asphalt at the intersections of Victoria-Scoresby street and Fitzroy-Scoresby street.

“Works to upgrade the intersection of Scoresby and Victoria streets began at the end of February, but were delayed after Kerang received the average March rainfall in the space of 24 hours,” Mr O’Reilly said.

“A holding seal was applied to the road surface at the intersection in mid-March, which reduced the level of dust raised by the number of motorists who use the intersection.

“Council thanks motorists, residents and business owners for their patience as these important works are undertaken.
