Gympie Regional Council are trialling a new E-Commerce Grants Program initially for retail businesses to help them trade online.
Eligible businesses can apply to receive financial assistance to help create their own social media page and website, along with all the training they need to begin operating online.
“The COVID-19 crisis has escalated the need for businesses to adapt from a traditional retail outlet to an online store,” Gympie Regional Council Mayor Glen Hartwig said.
“Businesses are doing it tough, either temporally shutting their doors or experiencing a significant drop in customers as we all stay at home.”
“To support our local business community, Council have put together a grants program for businesses to help them trade online.”
“It is also important during these difficult times that we support our local businesses by shopping locally wherever possible,” he said.
Applications for Round One of the Grants Program are now open and close on 30 May 2020.
