Information relating to Gannawarra Shire Council’s services and projects is now being delivered to residents’ letterboxes.
The inaugural edition of Council’s newsletter, Gannawarra Connect is being delivered throughout the municipality, with the eight-page document featuring details on current matters.
“Gannawarra Connect is one of the many ways that Council promotes what we are doing in the community,” Mayor Lorraine Learmonth said.
“The May edition of the newsletter features details regarding Council’s response to the Coronavirus pandemic, our 2020/2021 Proposed Budget and drought support information, as well as an update from health providers within the Gannawarra regarding their services at this time.”
The development of the newsletter was one of the outcomes from Council’s Community Engagement Survey, which received more than 300 responses from residents, business owners, community group representatives, media outlets and political representatives between February and March 2020.
“The survey found that although an increasing number of people are using social media to source information, many residents within the Gannawarra prefer to receive details regarding Council’s services via hard copy documents, such as newspapers and newsletters,” Mayor Learmonth said.
“The launch of this brochure is timely, particularly with the challenges we face managing the spread of Coronavirus and one of the district’s newspapers, the Gannawarra Times, currently not being published.
“At this stage Gannawarra Connect will be produced monthly, but will revert to being distributed every two months at a later date.”
