Bayside’s Community Nursery will open on Saturday 2 May for the planting season with strict social distancing measures in place to protect the health of our community.
In response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the nursery will be card-sales only. A maximum of 10 customers will be allowed in the nursery at any time.
Like many Bayside businesses during the Coronavirus pandemic, the nursery will operate as a ‘takeaway’ service, with customers encouraged to research which native plants they want to buy before visiting the nursery so they can move through the space quickly. Staff will not be available to provide plant or landscape design advice.
The decision to reopen the nursery means that plants propagated this year can find new homes and won’t go to waste. Reopening the nursery has been approved by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
Customer adviceThe outdoor nursery can accommodate a maximum of 10 customers at any time, who will be served by one staff member on the till. Another staff member will be at the entrance gate to ensure the nursery does not exceed capacity.
Customers are required to follow social distancing signs, including standing at marked spaces while waiting to pay, and following one-way aisles through the nursery.
The nursery will open on Thursdays from 10am to 1pm and Saturdays between 10am and 12pm, subject to government advice and customer adherence to social distancing.
