Dozens of happy children returned to Manly Community Pre-School on Monday morning when it reopened after a year of extensive renovations.

Parents and returning students were wowed by the revamped spaces that are now so light and bright and are state of the art environments for modern learning.

The refurbishment now means the pre-school can accommodate up to 60 students (40 previously) a day and will include exciting new features for children such as a water creek and sustainable gardening. The building, classrooms and facilities are now accessible for people with a disability.

The focus of the renovation was on creating a modern, high quality environment, both inside and out, for children of all abilities to play and learn.

Centre Director Lisa Mansfield has been involved throughout the whole process over a number of years of planning and is over the moon with the result.

“Not only is this a beautiful learning environment for the children, but it is also a pleasure for our educators to teach in,” says Lisa. “Some of our staff have been working for Northern Beaches Council Community Pre-schools for over 17 years and the changes like upgraded, purpose built larger play spaces make educating and teaching our children a more engaging and rewarding experience. “

Council is proud of its many childcare facilities and staff are being supported to help make sure these important centres remain open during the COVID 19 emergency to support parents who go to work.

Manly Community Pre-School is one of seven early learning centres Council operates for the local community. Its renovation follows the refurbishment of the Harbour View centre in Seaforth which was complete in late 2018.

The refurbishment includes the adjoining Community Centre which will re-open when government COVID 19 restrictions are lifted.
