Regional economy the focus of digital discussion

Liverpool City Council and Western Sydney University’s Ideas 2170 series is back in 2020, shifting to the digital space with a topical conversation on ways a regional economy can be supported during major shocks or stresses such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on how everyday citizens go about their lives and caused a ripple effect on the global economy,” Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller said.
“As part of the latest in our Ideas 2170 discussion series, we will pull out the magnifying glass to focus on what can be done to support businesses and workers at a local level.
“We will sit down with a panel of visionaries from the government, university and private sectors who will share their thoughts and experiences on ways of rebuilding a regional economy through continued investment in infrastructure, education and training to build resilience, keep people meaningfully employed and help businesses to adapt and thrive.”
Liverpool City Council CEO Kiersten Fishburn will moderate and panellists include:

“Liverpool City Council recognises that local businesses have been impacted by COVID-19 and is doing all it can to continue supporting business growth, keep people employed and also provide financial support to our residents as we navigate through these unprecedented times,” Ms Fishburn said.
