City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Bob Dwyer has paid tribute to Councillor Paul Han, who has resigned from his position due to serious health issues.
Cr Han, who was elected to represent the Labor Party for the North Rocks Ward in 2017, tendered his resignation yesterday, effective immediately.
"It is with great regret that the City of Parramatta has accepted Cr Han's resignation after three years of dedicated service," Cr Dwyer said.
"Despite his health battles, Cr Han has been a strong and passionate advocate for the people of North Rocks and Parramatta more broadly, with a commitment to ensuring Council delivers the services and facilities that our growing community needs.
"On behalf of the City of Parramatta, I thank Cr Han for his contribution and wish him all the best during this challenging time."
Cr Han, a Carlingford local and father of three, has been battling cancer since July 2019 but has continued to play an important role at the City of Parramatta.
"Due to the rapid deterioration of my health, however, I cannot continue to perform the duties of a Councillor," Cr Han said.
"It has been a great honour to work with the people of North Rocks and represent the City of Parramatta since 2017, serving on the first Council since amalgamation. I would like the thank everyone for their kind support during this tough time for me and my family."
