City of Darwin’s’ ever popular free mobile playgroup Fun Bus is going on Tour!
Fun Bus has been supporting Darwin families for more than 30 years and provided thousands of families with children aged 0-5 years with opportunities to engage, play, sing and laugh.
Due to the COVID-19 response many City of Darwin programs have successfully transitioned to being delivered online, including Fun Bus, and in so doing attracted an audience from across Australia and around the world.
Fun Bus on Tour is looking to expand this appeal by broadcasting from secret locations across the Darwin municipality and interviewing special guests along the way.
Hints on the secret locations will be provided each Monday with children encouraged to engage with Fun Bus directly to share what they think is the secret location.
“We are delighted to be reaching so many more families and children through our online Fun Bus program,” said Fun Bus co-ordinator Jane Collins “we now have people joining us from Perth and Brisbane and even further afield including Mexico, Ireland, Fiji, New Zealand, the UK and Canada.”
“It’s just wonderful that we have been able to take our small program to such a broad audience and know they enjoy it.”
“Fun Bus on Tour builds on the success of the online program, taking in the sights of some special location across Darwin – we may even find families wanting to travel here post COVID-19!”
Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis agreed saying “Fun Bus has a special place in the hearts of everyone who is part of the program and I’m delighted to see our staff being so creative.”
“Something good has come out of this crisis – we have all learnt new skills and are reaching a bigger audiences through our online programs.”
“This success means it is highly likely we will continue to deliver Fun Bus and other programs online at the end of the COVID-19 response.”
