“For the week ending 01 May 2020, the following key works were completed by Council staff”, said Council’s Mayor, Cr. Ray Thompson.
“Within the urban Lithgow area couple of weeks, Council staff have focused their efforts on priority repairs throughout the urban Lithgow area,” said Mayor Thompson. “Asphalting has occurred in the areas of Wrights Road, Mort Street, Lithgow Street, Macauley Street, Hartley Valley Road, Lett Street and Bells Road. Alongside this road maintenance, Council’s streetscape mowing program has been ongoing to ensure that neighborhood aesthetic standards are maintained. Mowing and edging works have been completed in Main Street, East Street, and Lemnos Street as well as the skate parks, dog runs and Cranebrook Park.”
“In the last week Council’s rural works staff have worked diligently to perform maintenance on many rural road assets,” noted Mayor Thompson. “Asphalt repairs have been prioritized within the township of Portland with 17 roads being repaired last week. On top of this, bitumen seal improvements have been conducted on Council’s arterial roads such as Magpie Hollow Road, McKanes Falls Road, Rydal Hampton Road and Ganbenang Road. Unsealed road maintenance is also ongoing with grader crews currently working on Upper Nile Road, Glen Alice, Upper Turon Road, Palmers Oakey, Marsden Swamp Road, Kanimbla and Jerrys Meadow Road.”
“I am pleased to announce over the last month, additional major capital improvement projects have been completed,” said Mayor Thompson. “Most significantly, Bridge Street, Lithgow has been hotmix resealed and the results of this work are fantastic. While this has been a long process, I congratulate Council staff on their efforts in renewing the complex system of underground water mains prior to the new seal being applied and I thank the community for their patience. Many other resealing projects have been completed as well, including High Street, Portland, Pipers Flat Road, Pipers Flat, Windarra Place, Marrangaroo and Lidsdale Street, Wallerawang. Lastly, Sofala Street and Villiers Street in Portland will be sealed this week.”
