Lachlan Shire Council advises the public that a tender is currently being advertised through Tenderlink for the remediation of the site of the old water treatment plant in Lake Cargelligo.
Council is aware of some public concern being expressed regarding the proposed demolition of the disused water tower in Lake Cargelligo. However, Council would like to assure the residents of Lake Cargelligo that it is not intended for the old water tower to be demolished. Council is simply looking to demolish the old buildings and redundant pipework which are falling into disrepair.
The tender is only for the demolition and removal of infrastructure on-site, including underground pits, pipes and services, above ground storage sheds and treatment facilities and any contaminated soil.
It is Council’s intention to remediate the site and retain the old water tower so it can be used for community benefit in the future. This will serve to enhance the approach to Lake Cargelligo.
