At a time when health workers are being hailed as heroes, a new career guide is setting the standard for those looking to move into the sector locally.
The Career guide to working in the health and human services sector, Eurobodalla 2020 has been produced by Eurobodalla Council’s Employment Revolution team to ensure potential workers realise the educational and employment options and broad range of career paths available within the shire’s fastest growing employment sector.
Employment Revolution coordinator Rhonnie South said it was a pleasure to launch the guide.
“There’s so much more to health and human services than wiping bums. This guide shows the broader community the amazing work happening in health – and how they can join the ranks,” Ms South said.
“Roles are varied and numerous; from aged care to speech pathology, nursing to administration, youth work to physiotherapy.”
The guide is an essential resource for anyone moving into the sector, with information on training organisations, work placement opportunities, roles and career pathways, and a list of health and human services centred organisations in Eurobodalla.
Ms South said the 70 page guide was available as a PDF document for easy download and printing, and a text-only version was available to read directly on Council’s website.
“The Department of Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business has forecast more than 250 new jobs in health and human services for Eurobodalla by 2023,” she said.
“The guide includes information about the likelihood of various roles in the future, indicative weekly wages, and the checks and licenses required for different jobs. There’s also information on study and career paths, with information on training provided locally.
“Don’t miss our weekly video explainers - with content from the guide, helpful tips and fun facts – on the Employment Revolution Facebook page starting next Wednesday 6 May.”
