Council invites kindergarten enrolments for 2021

Corangamite Shire wants to hear from families who plan to enrol their children in kindergarten next year.

Families interested in sending their three and four-year-old children to kindergarten next year can now hop online and register their interest for up to 15 hours of subsidised three-year-old kindergarten along with 15 hours of four-year-old kinder.

The State Government has earmarked Corangamite Shire to be part of its early roll plans for three-year-old kinder in 2021. However, more work still needs to be done to ensure this is possible and depending on demand, three-year-old children may be able to attend programs at their local kindergartens for up to 15 hours a week.

“Kindergarten is a vital opportunity to learn about the world through play. It provides a wonderful chance for children to use their imagination and practise important skills,” Early Years Service Development Officer Eliza Ogden said.

“This year we are doing things a little differently with kindergarten enrolments this year. To help with planning for a possible new three-year-old kindergarten program, we are asking families to take just a few moments to complete a kindergarten registration of interest form.

“We will ask families to either complete an expression of interest in three-year-old kindergarten or complete a four-year-old registration form in our Family and Children’s Services portal.

“Following a Central Enrolment grant from the State Government, all can be completed online for ease of access for our families. We look forward to working with children and families and will send out letters of offer during Term 3, once a decision to introduce a three-year-old has been made.”

To ensure the best opportunity of receiving the place, location and session of their choice, families are asked to complete the Expression of Interest Online Enrolment Form for three year and four-year-old enrolment applications as soon as possible.

Applications close on Friday June 26. For further information on programs or the enrolment process, please contact Council’s Family and Children’s Services Team on 5593 7100.
