Mr Kenneth Donohoe formally commences as Chief Executive Officer at the Shire of Ashburton this week.
Mr Donohoe’s commencement comes after a comprehensive recruitment process earlier this year and he brings extensive experience and local government knowledge to Ashburton having served in local government for 30 years, with 20 of those in Executive roles at Town of Port Hedland, Shire of Broome, Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale and most recently at Whitsunday Regional Council.
Shire President Kerry White welcomes Kenn to the Shire and is confident that Kenn an ideal person to lead the organisation.
“Kenn has a proven record of working with Council and the community to achieve long term strategic goals and objectives”, said Councillor White.
“He also has a demonstrated professionalism and dedication to local government and I am looking forward to working with Kenn to accomplish Council’s vision and continued progression of our region”.
Chief Executive Officer Kenn Donohoe said he is pleased to return to Western Australia and to the Pilbara.
“There is something about the red earth, smell of the pindan after rain and the sheer vastness of this area that stays with you and brings you back”, said Kenn.
“My time spent in Port Hedland previously meant that I travelled frequently to Ashburton and I have a familiarity of the towns and understand the constraints of distance and remote living.
“In these past few weeks since moving to Tom Price, I am astounded by the beauty of the natural environment and have realised the tremendous powerhouse of the resources within the district that supports not just the Pilbara but Australia.
“I am immensely proud to be stepping into this role, and as a priority will focus on getting a series of capital works projects off the ground and progressing so that we can achieve Council’s vision and also assist the State and nation in getting stimulus projects implemented during this challenging time that is affecting every Australian family.
“I intend to work with Shire staff to ensure we have the capability and a collaboration of knowledge and experience to fulfil Council’s objectives and work with our industry partners to achieve future growth and improvements for our towns.
“Thirdly I am keen to get to know the community. Those who I have already met demonstrate great pride and passion for Ashburton and that is something I am looking forward to increasing and extending across the region”.
