Last night, the asphalt in upper Mary Street (between Monkland Street and the pedestrian crossing) was replaced because the roughness did not meet Council’s specifications.

It was replaced at no cost to Council.

Gympie Regional Council Mayor, Glen Hartwig, is pleased with the outcome.

“We want to make sure that we are getting value for money for our community’s projects,” he said.

“I am happy that we have been able to negotiate this outcome with the contractor.

"The works were completed without incident and all impacted businesses were advised prior to the works commencing."

There will be some minor cleaning up of the site this evening, and traffic light sensors will be installed and line marking completed on Thursday night.
