Liverpool City Library’s programs are going digital to help beat social isolation boredom, keeping the kids entertained and adults connected.
"Our branches may be closed, but Liverpool City Library is still there for the community,” Mayor Wendy Waller said.
“There are fantastic programs for kids and adults alike, as well as a huge range of online offerings to entertain and inform the whole family.”
Every Thursday kids can enjoy reading and creativity through Storytime online with a new story posted every week. There are also bilingual Storytimes with picture books read in Serbian and Hindi alongside the English-language narration.
Bilingual Storytimes featuring Polish and Italian-language narration will feature in upcoming weeks.
Kids are also encouraged to get hands-on during breaks from school-work with Mini Makes Online.
Airing every second Monday, the Mini Makes Online gets creative kids to use supplies found around the home to create craft projects.
And on every second Friday afternoon, budding young builders can also let their imaginations run wild with the Lego Challenge, online via the Library Facebook page.
Meanwhile adults are encouraged to connect with the Liverpool City Library community and join other readers for the Book Chat Online.
Each month readers can download a new title free with their library card then meet online. The next discussion takes place on Friday, 5 June.
Adults can also practice and improve English-speaking skills in Conversation Café Online. A live zoom classroom, run by a TESOL qualified tutor, sees students meet other locals, improve their English speaking skills and build confidence.
Participate in some mindful crafting and creating with Munch, Mend & Make Online, a free social craft group for anyone interested in expanding their creativity. New projects presented fortnightly.
You can also settle in with a good eBook, eAudiobook, eNewspaper or eMagazine.
Offering something for everyone, the eLibrary is available 24/7 with a library card. Visit mylibrary.liverpool.nsw.gov.au for more information about the Library’s digital program.
