Au Revoir Summer will transform the laneway between 5 - 9pm on Thursday, February 27, with kid’s activities, chilled ambient music, street artists and great food and drink options.
Claremont Mayor Jock Barker said the family-friendly event was the perfect finale to the new summertime event series, with the celebration being the last of three town centre street parties held once a month over the season.
“To date the Buon Natale Christmas street party in Bay View Terrace and Lunar New Year celebration on Avion Way have brought vibrancy and colour to the streets of Claremont,” he said.
“These activations have helped people discover the unique character of the shopping precinct and enabled us to create welcoming, family friendly experiences for residents and visitors to enjoy.
“The pop-up street parties have been designed to align with Thursday night trade and are a wonderful way for locals and residents to find new gems and reacquaint themselves with the range of speciality stores throughout Claremont.”
The backdrop for Au Revoir Summer will be set against Walt Drabble Lane’s striking monochrome mural by local artist Peche which has created a welcoming walking corridor that links Leura Avenue to the shopping precinct and complements its stylish surrounds of Empire Homewares.
Dinner, snack and sweet options will include tantalising delights by food trucks and carts including The Cheesy Chalet, Miam Miam Crepes, The Little Brulee and Billy Van Creamy.
Empire Café will be serving fresh choices and delicious coffee and as a special treat, local favourite and renowned Pronto Butcher will be offering handcrafted Toulouse sausages served against artisan bread.
The selection of eats and sweet delights will be complemented with a pop-up bar by The Claremont, ensuring something for every taste and delivering a true feast for the senses.
From 5 - 8pm children can enjoy Monet inspired craft activities organised by the Claremont Community Hub and play traditional grass games with the team from the Freshwater Bay Museum.
Free glitter tattoos and face painting are on offer and the charming antics of French mime performers and caricature artists will delight those of all ages.
