Liverpool City Council has launched a Business Resilience Grant in response to the deep impact local businesses are facing due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Liverpool City Council recognises that many local businesses have been severely affected by COVID-19 and is rolling out a range of measures to continue supporting business growth and to keep people in jobs,” Mayor Waller said.

“Local businesses are experiencing financial strain and Council has responded with the Business Resilience Grant as one of many measures to support businesses in this new operating environment.

“The grant is an opportunity to develop and strengthen their online strategy and presence. The strategy could involve pivoting their business or operating model, offerings or marketing strategy to connect with new and existing customers.”

Local businesses which meet the Business Resilience Grant criteria can apply for up to $5000.

“We’ve already seen businesses in the Liverpool area demonstrate their ingenuity and entrepreneurial spirit to adapt their business offering and keep their employees in meaningful work,” Mayor Waller said.

“Gyms such as Ultim8 and Fitness Forum Green Valley are developing online fitness videos, eateries including Blackrose Cafe and Paper Mill are now also selling groceries and we've seen a number of online networks being created such as the KEO Sydney South West Food Delivery & Takeaway Facebook group to promote the need to shop and eat locally.

“I’d also like to recognise local businesses such as Liverpool Glass who are  supporting those working on the front-line to keep the community safe. The Prestons-based business recently began producing protective cough screens for surgeries and hospitals.

“I’m incredibly proud of the way our local community has rallied together and continued to support local business and each other during these unprecedented times. I want to reiterate that Council is here to support and provide guidance to our community and we will get through this together.

“I encourage community members to shop locally, keep your mind and body active, and practice good hygiene and social distancing when out and about.”
