Take back control of your energy bills

Published on 08 May 2020

Gannawarra Shire residents are encouraged to take part in two webinars that will provide tips on how to reduce energy bills.

Developed by the Central Victorian Greenhouse Alliance in partnership with Council, the Consumer Policy Research Centre and Renew, the free Taking Back Control of your Energy Bill webinar program will provide expert advice on ways to reduce energy bills, particularly important as people are struggling financially and spending more time at home.

“Due to social distancing measures put in place to stop the spread of Coronavirus, many residents are spending more time at home than previously,” Mayor Lorraine Learmonth said.

“This can result in appliances such as computers, televisions and heaters running more often than normal, which can impact on energy bills.

“The Taking Back Control of your Energy Bill program will assist in helping you to take back control of your energy bill, both now and into the future.”

The first session - Take back control of your energy bills – will occur online on Wednesday, 20 May at 7pm, and will outline simple steps that can be taken to reduce energy bills.

A second webinar – Tips for Saving Energy at Home – will be held on Wednesday, 27 May at 7pm, and will go into more detail about what you can do around your own home to save energy.

“Residents can choose to register for one of the sessions that interests them. There is no obligation to take part in both webinars,” Mayor Learmonth said.

“Even better, you can learn from regional industry leaders from the comfort of your home.”
