Long Reef Surf Life Saving Club will soon be given a significant facelift, after a Development Application was recently approved by the Sydney North Planning Panel.
The $6.9 million development will see three new buildings, including a two-storey clubhouse, a gym, training room, function room and a proposed new amenities block.
Council will contribute $1.9 million towards the exciting community project, with the remainder of funds from the NSW Government ($3.1 million) and the Federal Government ($1.9 million).
Officers from Council have been working closely with Long Reef Surf Life Saving Club, the community as well as appointed architects over the last three years behind the scenes to get the project up and running.
The aim is to ensure the surf club building and associated community spaces will provide elite facilities for club members and the community, while at the same time fitting in with the natural environment.
Construction works at Long Reef are part of the proposed 20/21 budget and anticipated to commence towards the end of this year.
