The city's waste facility will be open for an additional two hours on Saturdays, with Council aiming to also have the facility open on Sundays in the near future.
From May 16 the waste facility will be open 8am-1pm Monday to Saturday.
Council's General Manager, James Roncon, said operations at the facility would gradually increase as the effects of COVID-19 begin to ease.
"Our waste services have been hit pretty hard during the pandemic; we've had a lot of people on leave and sick leave right across the organisation," he said.
"We've also seen staff choose to take leave and self-isolate throughout the worst of the pandemic, which we completely support and appreciate.
"As restrictions begin to ease and we get more people back on deck we can look to ramp up our operations, and that will include opening on Sundays as soon as we have the resources."
Mr Roncon thanked the community for their patience during the pandemic.
"We realise the reduction in tip hours have been a source of frustration for some people, but we appreciate that the vast majority of people have been polite and really understanding,” he said.
"As soon as we're in a position to open on Sundays we'll let the public know."
