This week, Gympie Regional Council will commence phase one of the Southside water meter upgrade project.
As part of this project, 890 water metres at Southside will be inspected to determine the upgrades or repair work that is necessary.
“Water meter inspections are an important activity for Council to carry out,” said Stephen Jewell, manager of Gympie Regional Council’s Water Business Unit.
“Accurate recording of our water usage helps us determine everything from costing to conservation.
“If you live on Southside, you may see water metre inspectors out and about over the next couple of weeks.
“Just be mindful that social distancing rules still apply but feel free to say hi if you see them around.
“We are making sure our metres are reading accurately.
“Especially during the dryer winter months, there is a necessity to make sure we are monitoring the region’s water usage. Accurate readings also help us inform the community on solid sustainable water usage practices.” Mr Jewell said.
Phase two of the project will commence on Monday 25 May 2020 and is aimed at rectifying any issues identified during phase one.
