Upgrade of Portland CBD Garden Beds

Council wishes to advise residents and business owners of Portland of upcoming important works to upgrade and renew the Portland CBD.

The works will include:

Removal of ‘mop tops’ and replacement with more suitable plants/trees for the area. Upgrade the configuration of the existing garden beds to make them more sustainable and eliminate the washout of the garden during wet weather events. Installation of new street bins/street furniture/ metal tree guards within the CBD

This work is being undertaken as a result of close consultation with the Portland community. This project will result in improved safety for pedestrians, improved roadside parking and access, and enhancements to the amenity of the Portland CBD. This project is expected to commence this week, with works to be undertaken collaboratively by Council staff and contractors.

Residents are urged to note the changed traffic conditions in this area while works progress. Please exhibit caution and patience whilst travelling through the area.
