Liverpool City Council's Customer Service Counter will open from Monday 18 May and the public will be allowed to use playgrounds and outdoor gym equipment from Friday, as Council begins lifting coronavirus restrictions in line with NSW Government advice.
“We have begun the long journey back to normality with a few small steps,” Mayor Wendy Waller said.
“And while processes will be in place to keep people safe as they use our facilities, please remember to observe social distancing and hygiene requirements.”
At Council’s Customer Service Counter, the area has been deep cleaned and a security guard will ensure a maximum 8 visitors will be allowed to enter Council's Customer Service Counter at any one time, through separate entry and exit points.
Three counters will be open and hand sanitiser will be available for public use.
Council's Customer Service Counter will be open from 8.30am to 4.30pm from Monday 18 May.
Meanwhile, the reopening of Council's 202 play and outdoor gym equipment sites will take place from Friday.
“As Council reopens the playgrounds and outdoor gym facilities we appreciate your patience as we remove the tape from these sites,” Mayor Waller said.
“Community members are reminded to continue practising social distancing when out and about and to remain diligent with hand washing and sanitising when using outdoor equipment. The message is clear - if you feel the mildest symptoms, stay home,” Mayor Waller said.
Despite the restrictions, Mayor Waller said Council has been working hard to improve facilities for the community.
Upgrades and improvements to Apex Park are underway, and repairs to fencing at the Casula Parklands off-leash dog areas following extensive damage during February's storms are ongoing.
“During these months of coronavirus-enforced shutdowns, we have remained focused on serving our community to make sure we offer the best we can,” Mayor Waller said.
“We will continue the gradual return to our regular services and re-opening of facilities in line with advice from the NSW Government.”
