Following the Queensland Government’s roadmap to easing restrictions, Council will start to re-open community facilities.
Council reminds the community that while playgrounds and outdoor recreation facilities including the Mareeba Skate Park will re-open from Friday 15 May 2020 (11.59 pm), strict social distancing measures remain in place. A maximum of 10 people can gather outdoors.
The Mareeba customer service centre will re-open to the public from Monday 18 May 2020, with social distancing measures in place. A maximum of 8 customers will be allowed in the centre at one time. Council encourages residents to contact Council via phone or email rather than visiting the centre.
The Mareeba, Kuranda and Chillagoe Library branches will re-open from Wednesday 20 May 2020 for borrowing only. The telephone assisted and click and collect borrowing service will continue. Strict social distancing measures will remain in place. There will be a limit of 8 customers in the branch at any one time and social distancing will be maintained. All programs and activities will remain suspended until further notice. Dimbulah residents are encouraged to continue to use the telephone assisted borrowing or online services.
The Kuranda customer service centre and library will re-open to the public on Wednesday 20 May 2020.
Public swimming pools will re-open in August after the winter closure.
The Kuranda Visitor Information Centre will remain closed until further notice.
Hall hire will be available when Government restrictions reach Stage 3 from 10 July 2020.
