Presidents Park is set to get a mammoth revamp, following the adoption of a master plan that outlines a vision for the 75-hectare reserve over the next decade.

Key features of the Presidents Park master plan include the delivery of a second full-size hockey pitch; an upgraded baseball pavilion and upgrades to the diamonds, including back netting behind home bases; upgrading the show pitch softball fields to allow for adult competition; and infrastructure to assist in the running of large-scale events.

Sports Development portfolio holder Cr Peter Maynard said there will also be new landscaping along the lake and Werribee River and a new arts heritage walking trail; an all-abilities play space; new walking paths from the east to the west of the park; and trail loops with distance markers.

“Presidents Park has long been a popular reserve for sporting groups, recreational runners and walkers, dog owners and families alike,” Cr Maynard said.

“It is expected that delivery of the master plan will build on the park’s strengths by offering new and upgraded sporting facilities, walking paths and exercise equipment suitable to people of all ages, from toddlers to seniors.”

“I’m particularly excited about new trial loops with distance markers, which will let runners know how many kilometres they have clocked up.”

“Over the past five years, the use of the reserve for events – such as Wyndham Holi and the Wyndham Food Truck Festival – has grown, and this plan will improve the infrastructure and services to support these events in the future.”

“The master plan will be implemented gradually of the next 10 years.”

The adoption of the master plan follows extensive community consultation.
