City of Swan announces leisure and libraries reopening roadmap

The City of Swan will gradually reopen some of our services and facilities from next week, as Coronavirus restrictions are scaled back.

Ballajura, Beechboro and Midland Libraries will reopen its doors to some services for the community on Monday, May 18 while Ellenbrook and Bullsbrook Libraries will follow suit on Monday, May 25.

Guildford Library will remain operating through the City’s online Click and Collect service until the next stage of restrictions are lifted.

Swan Active centres across the City will start taking online bookings next week for group fitness and personal training sessions which will recommence from Monday, May 25.

City of Swan Mayor Kevin Bailey said it was exciting to see the City able to reopen community services across our facilities.

“Our libraries and leisure facilities are critical community hubs that provide many with much needed support and access,” he said.

“Even though these facilities will operate differently for a while as we ease our way back to normality, it is so important we enable community access while complying with social-distancing rules.

"Our number one priority is keeping our community and staff healthy and safe, so that means limiting the amount of patrons we can hold at any one time, as well as limiting the time we allow people to spend in our spaces.

"We'll also be carrying out a strict cleaning regimen across our facilities, every time a person uses a computer, returns a book or uses fitness equipment."

City of Swan Libraries and Swan Active centres have remained open for business during restrictions, with many services and programs being offered in a virtual format so community members could continue to enjoy them from the comfort and safety of their own home.

Much of the online offering from libraries and Swan Active will continue to operate as the City gradually reopens its doors in line with the State Government’s roadmap.

Libraries

The City’s three Swan Active centres will commence online bookings next week, with fitness classes and personal training sessions bookable from May 25 Group fitness sessions will hold no more than 20 people for a maximum duration of 45 minutes Swan Active online platforms – YouTube, Blogs, TikTok, Instagram and Facebook remain active for those wanting to keep in touch at home.
