Bega Valley Shire Council is particularly keen to hear from the Wyndham community surrounding a plan to construct a shared path network within the village.

The draft plan has been devised on the back of requests from the community for a variety of paths, with the areas around the town hall, school and playground specifically identified as requiring attention.

Council’s Buildings and Shared Network Specialist, Penny Green, said the project has been identified as a priority due to the very limited active transport infrastructure in Wyndham.

“The fact that the majority of the village’s places of interest are located along the main arterial route further highlights the importance of the project,” Ms Green said.

“Underlining Council’s commitment to the project is the fact that an application for $157,825 in funding has already been submitted under the Active Transport program to the NSW Department for Transport.

“Implementation of the draft plan would see a 2.5m shared path along Gordon Street and Monaro Street, connecting the Wyndham Recreation Ground to the Wyndham Men’s shed via the School, playground, public toilet, town hall, bus stop and tennis courts.

“With all projects of this nature, community consultation and input are vital and therefore we are strongly encouraging the community to view the plan and provide their feedback.

“Local knowledge is so valuable and having the backing of the community will be extremely important as we pursue the necessary funding,” Ms Green said.

The draft plan is on display and available to view at the school, general store and hall.
