In response to the State Government’s four-phase roadmap easing COVID-19 restrictions, the Shire of Augusta Margaret River has reviewed a number of its facilities and services with the following changes and updates:
Margaret River Recreation Centre A staged reopening of the Margaret River Recreation Centre will begin with Group Fitness Classes commencing 6am, Tuesday 19 May.
We are anticipating to open the pool on Thursday 21 May, subject to Health Department water testing results and will confirm via the Rec Centre Facebook page.
Group fitness classes and pool sessions will be limited to 20 people at any one time, in accordance with State Government regulations.
The gym and courts remain closed, and are considered as part of Phase 3 (potentially 3-4 weeks) easing of restrictions.
As of Tuesday 19 May, the Margaret River Recreation Centre’s revised hours will be Mon - Fri 6am to 7pm, Sat 8 am to 12 pm and closed Sunday’s.
Augusta Gym The gym will remain closed in line with State Government directions and is anticipated to open as part of Phase 3.
Margaret River Library Options for a staged reopening of our libraries with reduced hours are being considered, noting the library will not be open on Monday 18 May. Click and collect services will continue to operate for the foreseeable future, serving all residents across the shire.

Margaret River Civic Administration Centre
Will continue to be open Monday - Friday, 9am - 4pm.
Augusta Shire Office
Will continue to be open Mondays and Fridays, between 10am-3pm

Caravan parks Turner Caravan Park is scheduled to open in time for the June Long Weekend. Flinders Bay Caravan Park will remain closed as part of usual seasonal closures and will be reviewed subject to booking demand.
Alexandra Bridge Caravan Park is open. 21 campsites are available on first come, first served basis. No bookings will be taken. Fees payable at self-registration box. Phone 9780 5676 for further information.
Margaret River HEART Will remain closed until Phase 3.
Playgrounds and Skateparks Will remain closed until Phase 3.
Shire Halls We are working with Halls Committees to support them and ensure halls are safe for public use in accordance with COVID Safety Plan requirements.
Shire Chief Executive Officer Stephanie Addison Brown said the primary focus was ensuring public facilities and services remained safe for our community to access.
“We are working diligently to ensure the re-opening of community facilities are done with due care and in accordance with COVID Safety Guidelines provides by the State Government,” she said.
“The Shire has worked hard to continue delivering essential services despite the forced shut down of many facilities.
