In line with government restrictions, the Town is planning to reopen the Claremont Community Hub and Library on Wednesday 20 May and the Claremont Aquatic Centre on Monday 25 May for a maximum of 20 patrons. Strict government-mandated hygiene and social distancing measures will be in place at both facilities.
The Town’s administration building is also planned to reopen on Monday 25 May 2020 at 8:30am, with the same attention to hygiene and social distancing measures.
These plans are subject to the Town receiving the government’s COVID-19 Safety Plan documentation, which the Town will be required to complete before each facility reopens.
Mayor Jock Barker said staff are working hard to prepare for the reopening by setting up hygiene stations, installing perspex guards around customer-facing areas, and creating mandatory COVID-19 safety plans.
“Just like the transition of closing for COVID-19 restrictions, the reopening of our facilities will be a methodical process to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and the community,” Mayor Barker said.
“Thank you for your understanding during this time as we navigate through the phases of the government roadmap and the easing of restrictions.”
The Aquatic Centre will have a booking system to ensure no more than 20 patrons are in the centre at any one time. Initially, only the 50m lap pool will be open, with plans to review this as the government’s advice develops. The community hub and library will also have a 20 patron rule, as set out by state government regulations.
“This is a constantly evolving situation, but it’s comforting to see a sense of normality coming back into our community,” Mayor Barker said. Back To News Stories
