The City of Fremantle is celebrating the generous contributions made by volunteers in the community and sharing their stories during National Volunteer Week, held from 18–24 May 2020.
Our Fremantle Ambassadors are volunteers and local experts who provide a friendly face and general knowledge to ensure visitors experience the best Fremantle has to offer. We have three types of ambassadors:
Visitor Centre Ambassadors are based at the Fremantle Visitor Centre in the Fremantle Town Hall, Kings Square seven days a week. Roving Ambassadors provide a welcoming smile, map and assistance to visitors at key tourist locations. They also play an important role during the cruise ship season (October–April). Cruise Ship Ambassadors welcome passengers from all over the world who are visiting Fremantle, and are based at either the Fremantle Passenger Terminal or at the free shuttle stops.Volunteer Alan Sammons has been involved with the Fremantle Ambassador volunteering program for about 10 years and is looking forward to welcoming tourists back to Fremantle as travel restrictions begin to ease.
“I really enjoy the interaction with people from all over the world who are interested in our city,” Alan said.
“We have beautiful old Victorian buildings, and amazing tours on land, river and sea.
“I have gained an enormous amount of pleasure in helping people make decisions about what they want to see and do in the area.”
On behalf of everyone at the City of Fremantle, we say thank you to Alan and all of our Fremantle Ambassadors.
