The City of Wanneroo is reopening its Hainsworth and Clarkson Youth Centres after temporarily closing the buildings due to social distancing restrictions.

From Tuesday 19 May 2020, the Hainsworth Youth Centre will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 3.30pm and 6.30pm. The Clarkson Youth Centre’s opening times will be Wednesdays and Fridays between 3.30pm and 6.30pm from 20 May.

The Centres will accommodate up to 20 people at a time with City of Wanneroo staff actively monitoring social distancing and hygiene requirements.

Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts said the youth centres were important to the Girrawheen and Clarkson communities, and reopening the facilities would be appreciated by many.

“Youth centres provide a safe environment for young people to socialise, participate in recreational activities, and find information about other community services,” said Mayor Roberts.

“Our youth team has been working behind the scenes during the COVID-19 pandemic to deliver excellent online resources and is keen to once again have young people at the Hainsworth and Clarkson centres.”

Updates can also be found on the Childhood and Youth Services Facebook page - @CoWYouth.

The City’s Youth Centres at Wanneroo and Yanchep will remain temporarily closed at this stage due to being smaller facilities, as will the Clarkson skate park and BMX track.
