While the in-person Sustainable Living programs, events and tours remain suspended or postponed due to the pandemic, Coffs Harbour City Council is providing a virtual portal so that you can still get involved online with an exciting menu of virtual activities.

“For anyone keen to connect with our natural world, or wanting to make small steps today for a brighter world for tomorrow, there’s lots of fun to be had with an upcoming new online program, incorporating some of our popular Living Lightly workshops and Coffs By Nature tours,” said Andrew Davis, Sustainable Living and Community Programs Coordinator.

As part of the program, from June 1, you can take part in a 30-Day Sustainability Boost.  Every day for 30 days, a new sustainability action will be posted on the Our Living Coast Facebook page that you can do at home. Each task is designed to motivate your household towards finding a balanced way to connect with our amazing environment and live lightly. It’s also a great way to mark World Environment Day on June 5.

The program will focus on four action blocks – Energy, Food, Nature and Waste-free living. So jump on and enjoy the ideas and inspiration.

“Our FREE online program has been designed as a catalyst to connect in to nature,” added Andrew. “While face-to-face delivery isn’t possible right now, you can still spend time with our passionate and knowledgeable local tour guides and workshop facilitators online as the stepping off point to some amazing outdoor adventures and activities you can do in your own time.”

Ever wanted to start your veggie patch but never seemed to find the time?  Well now is the perfect opportunity to get out and create a little magic in your backyard.

You can also make the most of learning new ways to produce utterly delicious garden-to-plate cooking.

And for those wanting to explore new possibilities for their next local outdoor adventure, there will be a virtual nature series with downloadable resources, filmed locally and delivered by the Coffs By Nature team via the Our Living Coast website. Each episode will feature activities to guide you in getting to know the nature around you better, whether as a family, solo or with friends.
