A further easing of COVID-19 restrictions in the region will see Snowy Monaro Regional Council’s customer service counters reopen from Monday 25 May.

The community will once again be able to access the front counter areas of Council’s four office locations.

To ensure community and staff safety, a number of social distancing measures will be in place at the Berridale, Bombala, Cooma and Jindabyne offices.

Council’s customer service counters will have perspex screens installed, hand sanitiser available upon entry to the office and at each counter, plus floor signage promoting social distancing whilst queuing for staff assistance.

“As we start to see more Council facilities and now offices reopening, this is recognition that our community is doing an excellent job adhering to social distancing guidelines,” said Snowy Monaro Regional Council Mayor Peter Beer.

“Our priority is to ensure that you, and our staff, feel safe when accessing Council’s customer service desks.”

Additional safety measures will be introduced at the reopened front office areas with information brochures and items on public exhibition not displayed. These initiatives are designed to minimise the time people spend in each office. Items out on public exhibition can be viewed online or by appointment. Visitors can request any of these materials from staff but they will not be on open display.

“Adhering with government guidelines, it’s important that people don’t spend unnecessary time in the offices. Our friendly customer service team will assist you with your business and once complete, I encourage you to vacate the office in a safe manner,” Mayor Beer said.

“I appreciate the community’s cooperation and trust people will continue following social distancing advice and maintain good hygiene.”

At the Cooma office, access to levels one and two is closed to the public. People wishing to meet with a staff member are requested to make an appointment over the phone and arrange a time to meet in an office space on the ground floor.

While Council’s offices are open, the community is encouraged to continue contacting Council on its 1300 345 345 number or via email - [email protected]
