Principal Environmental Health Officer Scott Dandridge, Shire President Paul Gillett and Aminya Ennis from Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions.
The work at Point Douro to rehabilitate the site is continuing with the Department of Biodiversity Conservation and Attractions working alongside the Shire.
DBCA is calling on the community to share historical information about the site. In the 60s and 70s Point Douro was a speedway known as Blick’s Raceway and attracted crowds from throughout the region.
There is some photographic evidence of this and the Department and Shire would like to know more so this can be used as part of some information signage once the area is rehabilitated.
DBCA is working on creating a walking trail along the river’s edge and they are hoping it will attract the wildlife back to the area. There are some structures leftover on the site as well, and it has been alluded to that a caravan park was also on the site.
