This Reconciliation Week 27 May – 3 June is a little different for us all. However, with a different approach for 2020 we can all still celebrate a significant event in the Aboriginal calendar with your support.
We are inviting all schools to consider what they can do to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Culture and Histories through online learning.
In 2004 Michael Long (Ex Essendon Footballer) walked from Melbourne to Canberra to talk to the then Prime Minister John Howard about the plight of Aboriginal people. Every year since then during the Dreamtime AFL round and Reconciliation Week a smaller walk has continued - with many local schools getting involved too.
As part of Reconciliation week this year, we ask schools and students to join in anytime between 10 am to 12 noon for a ‘Little Long Walk’ around your local area with your families. During that time 3KND will broadcast speakers such as Michael Long and Nova Peris who will discuss Reconciliation and the 16 years since Michael Long started the Long Walk.
