Works are underway to improve the safety and accessibility of the B7 and Australian Volunteer Coast Guard car parks near the Sandringham foreshore.
The B7 car park, which services Sandy Beach Kiosk and East Coast Kayaking, will be closed for upgrades until late June 2020. While the car park is closed, a walkway with temporary fencing will provide safe pedestrian access to the foreshore and nearby businesses.
Following completion of works on the B7 car park, the Coast Guard car park will close for works for two weeks, reopening in early July, weather permitting.
Upgrading the car parks will involve grading, levelling and topping up the existing gravel surface of the carparks to improve safety and accessibility. We will also be installing bollards, edging and signage, and creating two new accessible car park spaces in the B7 car park.
These upgrades are part of Council’s delivery of the Sandringham Foreshore and Harbour Masterplan and will ensure that community infrastructure responds to the needs of the Bayside community.
