Restrictions easing – playgrounds to reopen
Bayside City Council 25 May 2020

Following the Victorian Premier’s announcement of the further easing of COVID-19 restrictions, Bayside playgrounds are now open for up to ten people at a time and up to 20 people after 1 June.

The outdoor gym equipment at Dendy Park and skate parks will also reopen under the same restrictions.

Users of Bayside outdoor recreation spaces are encouraged to play safely. This means practicing good hand hygiene by bringing hand wipes or sanitiser with you and adhering to the maximum number of people permitted under social gathering requirements. If too many people are using the equipment when you arrive, please play, skate or work out at another one of our fabulous outdoor facilities.

Additional cleaning of playgrounds will be undertaken as part of the Working for Victoria cleansing and sanitisation blitz.

Further easing of restrictions from 1 June

The announcements also pave the way for the reopening of Bayside libraries, community centres, mens’ sheds and customer service counter at 76 Royal Avenue as well as BBQs and drinking fountains commencing after 1 June.

We are currently planning how best to operate these facilities within physical distancing and social gathering restrictions and further announcements will be made in coming days.

We will continue to assess the impacts of the gradual easing of restrictions. The health and safety of our residents, visitors and staff is our top priority when considering how best to reopen our facilities.

Stay safe

The Premier has reiterated that as we begin to settle into a new normal, our message is “stay safe”.

That means maintaining your physical distance. Using common sense.

And as we ease restrictions, each of us playing our part to keep ourselves and others safe.
