Sunraysia residents are encouraged to have their say on Mildura Rural City Council’s new five-year Environmental Education Plan.
Councillor for Environment and Farming Sustainability Anthony Cirillo said the plan outlines the actions Council intends to take over the coming five years to better educate and inform our community on environmental sustainability.
It also provides background on the progress already made in recent years.
“By increasing awareness about environmental sustainability, we’re aiming to build a more resilient community that uses less resources, produces less waste and can cope better with increasing costs associated with energy and water consumption,” Cr Cirillo said.
“The new plan will build on the work already undertaken at Mildura Eco Village and the ongoing focus on making the facility the focal point for Council’s environmental education efforts for the community.
“While Council has identified its objectives and actions in the plan, it’s important to ensure they reflect the community’s thoughts and priorities as well, so I’d encourage residents to take a look at the plan and provide us with your thoughts.”
The plan is available to download from Council’s Have Your Say page at www.mildura.vic.gov.au/HaveYourSay. Hard copies will be available on request and can be posted out. To obtain a hard copy of the plan call (03) 5018 8100.
Public comment can be provided until Saturday 20 June. Feedback can be submitted by emailing [email protected] or posted to PO Box 105, Mildura Victoria 3502.
