The City of Swan advises that it will shortly commence the construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Clayton Street and Cowie Close in Midland. The scope of this project includes the construction of new drainage and footpath infrastructure as well as the installation of streetlighting, signage and linemarking.
Works are anticipated to commence on Tuesday, 2nd June 2020 and will be substantially completed within 8 weeks of commencement. During this time, construction will take place on day and/or night shifts depending on the activity to be completed, in order to minimise impact on the surrounding businesses and traffic flow in the area. Daily work hours are 7am to 5pm for dayshifts and 8pm to 5am for nightshifts. There will be some instances where works will be occurring day and nightshift back to back.
The works may be extended in the event of inclement weather, contractor’s availabilities and/or unforeseen conditions.
To accommodate the works and to ensure the safety of the City’s construction staff and the general public, traffic management measures will be implemented. This will involve partial lane closures on Clayton Street and Cowie Close in which a 3 way stop/slow traffic management arrangement will be implemented at each approach to this intersection.
The works will also include a 24/7 road closure of the southern end of Cowie Close between Clayton Street and the Department of Transport from Monday, 15th June 2020 until Friday, 26th June 2020 with intermittent one day closures throughout the program. Access to the adjacent business complexes (3, 5 and 7 Clayton Street) will be maintained via Clayton Street at all times.
Please refer to the plan indicating the proposed traffic management arrangement during the closure of Cowie Close.
