Gordonvale heritage project to proceed

Published: 27 May 2020

The Mill Gardens and Gordonvale to Greenpatch Heritage Trail project will go ahead, but without the historic Draper Gates.

Concept plans for the heritage project include a sealed pathway from Norman Park to Greenpatch, landscaping, and interpretive signage to showcase the history and culture of the area.

The plan also included relocation of the Draper Gates from the Mulgrave Mill to the Mill Gardens.

Mulgrave Mill intended to contribute $200,000 towards relocation of the Draper Gates, but due to the impacts of COVID-19, the organisation has advised that this commitment is no longer feasible.

Council today supported proceeding with the original project scope, excluding the Draper Gates relocation.

The project has received funding of $600,000 under the Queensland Governments Works for Queensland (Round 3) program.
