National Reconciliation Week is being acknowledged across the country with the Snowy Monaro community encouraged to learn more about the shared histories, cultures and achievements of the region’s traditional custodians.
Held between 27 May and 3 June, National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to contribute to achieving reconciliation.
Snowy Monaro Regional Council acknowledges the Ngarigo people as the Traditional Custodians of the majority of the region. Council recognises the connection of others, including Walgalu, Ngunnawal, and Bidhawal people.
Council pays our respects to Elders past, present and future, and extend this respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who now call the Snowy Monaro region their home.
The theme for National Reconciliation Week 2020 is “In This Together”. This theme was chosen long before Covid-19 changed the way we come together. It reminds us whether in a crisis or in reconciliation we are all #InThisTogether.
